ENERGY EFFICIENCY

Energy Advisors to City of San Diego

EFM Solutions is working on as a continual effort to support the City of San Diego Environmental Services Department, Energy Conservation & Management Division in a general advisory role.  EFM has teamed with the City and San Diego Gas & Electric to create a partnership aimed at analyzing City owned facilities for energy saving opportunities.  EFM Solutions is currently conducting a number of detailed energy efficiency assessments for the City.  Along with these assessments, EFM Solutions assists the City to capture utility offered incentives and California Energy Commission low interest financing to implement energy conservation measures.  EFM Solutions also provides technical assistance to measure energy consumption both pre- and post-installation to gather empirical data for case studies, illustrating proven energy savings from recommended projects.

CSU Chancellor’s Office

EFM Solutions worked in tandem with DMJM Harris to provide an investment grade lighting assessment of the CSU Chancellor’s Office located in Long Beach, California.  This project is a perfect example of balancing architectural design and energy efficiency.  Many buildings are created with the intent of projecting an executive, opulent image to all how visit without concern of energy consumption.  Modern technological advances in lighting provide many opportunities to keep decorative lighting while reducing overall electrical load.  Such lighting technologies include compact fluorescent lamps, new generation linear fluorescent lamps, LED lighting, etc.

DEMAND RESPONSE

Sequenom

EFM Solutions worked with Siemens Building Technologies to produce a Demand Response Technical Assessment for the Sequenom building located in La Jolla, California.  This project proves that the Bio-tech industry can work energy efficiency and demand response into their normal modes of operation.  Though, laboratory work requires special, unforgiving energy requirements that does not mean that the entire facility must operated as an energy hog!  This project found over 140 kW in load shedding potential during emergency electrical situations that typically occur on the 7-15 hottest days of the year.

Sharp Grossmont

EFM Solutions is currently undergoing a Demand Response assessment in partnership with Siemens Building Technologies for the Medical Office Building located at Sharp Grossmont Hospital.  Sharp is eager to learn how they can participate in demand response to situations to do their part in lowering the energy transmission requirements for the San Diego Region.
