INTRODUCTION
EFM Solutions has been awarded the Energy Efficiency Parking Garage Program (EEPG) by Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) for the 2010-2012 Energy Efficiency Program Portfolio. EEPG has officially launched and is currently enrolling customers! This is a limited budget program and will be subscribed on a first come, first served basis.
PROGRAM SUMMARY
The Energy Efficient Parking Garage Program is designed to fill a niche within the PG&E program portfolio with simple technology, quick installation, and a non-abrasive application/participation process, that will provide fast and plentiful energy savings within the program years of 2010 - 2012. EEPG seeks out any Above Ground Parking Garage within the PG&E territory and will offer an incentive of $0.05/kWh and $100/kW for either T8 Fluorescent or Induction lamp retrofit. EEPG is a turn-key program committed to achieving its goals where the Program Implementer has partnered with the installer American Power Solutions, increasing the speed and efficiency of this program by partially employing the product sales team.
Parking garages are prevalent in this society, and especially throughout California. Many people use them daily and there is one thing that stands out about each garage: the lighting. Consumers will notice new lighting and this will add to the general awareness of environmental stewardship, needed to pursue energy efficiency projects across market segments. Additionally, 24 hour operation presents rich energy savings opportunities.
In addition to very attractive kWh savings, this program also has a direct link to an innovative, dynamic demand reduction strategy. Parking garages are lit 24 hours a day, but not the entire garage requires artificial lights to maintain safe and welcoming light levels. Photocells are installed and designed to control the perimeter lighting in times where direct sunlight is adequate to light the outer areas of the garage. The sensors will be wired to simply shut off the appropriate lamps when daylight levels are adequate.
